The code is the three or four digit number on the back for your credit card. It is usually located in the signature line and is the last three or four numbers directly after your credit card number. (Some cards do not have the credit card number listed, so in this case the code is the last 3 numbers.)
Why use the code?
This fraud protection checking system has been created so that if someone has possession of your credit card numbers they also need to have possession of your card in order to know what your card code numbers are.
Where is the code located?

On all VISA, Mastercard, and Discover cards the code is a three-digit, non-embossed number printed on the signature panel on the back of the card immediately following the card account number. |
